Vintage Anatomical Poster — The Sivartha Chart No. 1 (1886)
A striking chromolithographic wall chart blending anatomical science with spiritual philosophy, created by Dr. Alesha Sivartha (pseud. Arthur Merton). Featuring a sagittal section of the human body surrounded by 26 labeled diagrams, the chart illustrates systems such as the brain, nerves, respiration, digestion, and the esoteric “bioplasm” and “motive system.” Rendered in vivid red and orange tones, the design reflects Sivartha’s unique fusion of physiology, vitalism, and metaphysical symbolism. Originally distributed by Thomas Kane & Co., this chart served as a visual prelude to Sivartha’s 1898 work The Book of Life.
